CADV is a volunteer group of individuals representing
various organizations who are individually committed to bringing health and wholeness to
those affected by domestic violence. CADV is a non-profit
organization. We are committed to outreach into the greater Portland, Oregon area through
education and awareness concerning domestic violence and healing for victims and abusers.
Our goal is to train members of various communities to work together in order to help
families in domestic violence.
Between 2,000,000 and 4,000,000 women in America indicated that they are physically abused every year. 20-25% of all women report they have been abused by their partners at least once. Between 20% and 40% of dating couples experience physical violence. Every day in America at least three women are murdered by an intimate partner. In a study done by Boston Medical Center over 1/3 of children reported seeing violence by fathers against mothers when a parent reported that no violence had occurred. Children brought up in abusive homes have a higher risk of being abused. It is estimated that 5,000,000 children witness an assault on their mothers every year.
Abuse is wrong and we are committed to helping people and families caught in domestic violence or abuse to heal.
